From October 2022, Chie Dù Pù Dù Pà reopened its cultural and craft workshops at Bản Chie, 66 Hàng Trống, Hanoi. Before the pandemic, Chie often held cultural sharing sessions, such as the wrist-tying custom of the Lao or stories of Hmong silver jewellery.

Natural-dye tie-dye workshop
On Sunday 16 October 2022, Chie held two cultural sharing and tie-dye sessions. Participants played, explored objects used by ethnic minority villagers, ate cake, drank tea and dyed their own scarves with natural colours as gifts for the women in their lives on Vietnamese Women’s Day.
- A natural dye kit with a handwoven cotton scarf, tie-dye tools and dye from phang wood, hoàng đằng and nâu tuber.
- Honey black tea made with Northwest tea, and traditional cakes such as bánh chả, bánh khảo and honey-dried sweet potato.
- A display of ethnic minority artefacts and stories of highland life told by Thủy Chie.

Because space and staff are limited, each session takes a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 15 people. Chie also runs craft workshops at other venues.
Stuffed tiger keychain workshop
On the morning of 11 December 2022, Chie ran its first stuffed tiger-face keychain workshop on the third floor: two hours with 12 young participants. Chie prepared kits with the basic shapes already sewn; participants learned to stuff, stitch the edges, add eyes and noses, embroider stripes and attach a bell.
Even with slow threading and sewing, each child made two to three keychains to take home.

Book a private workshop
Chie hosts private workshops for groups by appointment at the store. If you would like to book one for your group, school or company, please get in touch with Chie to discuss.
